In 2021, The Chestertons Foundation helped fund Ocean Generation’s Ocean Academy programme for children aged 5 -16 years old. This initiative simplifies complex science to educate young people on the importance of our oceans and the threats they face, including the science behind climate change and the use and management of plastics.

The Cause
Ocean Generation is a UNESCO-backed non-profit organisation whose mission is to change the relationship between humankind and the ocean, focusing on education for younger generations and making them aware of the impact of their behaviour and attitudes on our planet.
For CIF, the protection of our environment is key to guaranteeing access to a safer and more prosperous future for all, regardless of geographical position or socio-economic status. When 600 Chestertons staff in London branches were asked to vote for their nominated charity, 53% opted to support a charity focused on eliminating ocean pollution.

With the Foundation’s contribution, Ocean Generation were able to reach 40,000 youngsters who are the next in line for safeguarding our planet.
