Their helicopters reach those in need of urgent care and transport them to NHS hospitals. Each helicopter carries a trauma doctor and paramedic who are trained to deliver pre-hospital, advanced medical care to patients at the scene of the incident.
The Cause
London’s Air Ambulance Charity provides a vital service that saves lives. Their aim is to put an end to preventable deaths from life-threatening injury through rapid-response and cutting-edge medical care.
The Project
To help the charity continue its vital work during the pandemic, The Foundation provided safety screens for London’s Air Ambulance helicopters which enabled them to transport Covid-19 patients without endangering the health of their staff. Our support ensured these patients had access to a helicopter and the rapid treatment they needed to make the best possible recovery.
The Foundation also contributed to other equipment including Chrysalis stretchers which are required for rescuing patients from restricted spaces, and specialist kit for newly seconded doctors and paramedics such as fire-retardant suits.
